The nuclear crisis in Japan is rapidly increasing.  I feel that this is important because if a nuclear disaster does occur, the Japanese economy will suffer greatly from it.  Tourism is a large source of revenue for the Japanese economy and the danger posed by radiation would most definitely decrease the amount of tourists that visit Japan each year.  Also many products that are imported to the United States are manufactured by Japanese corporations such as, Honda, Toyota, Sony, Nintendo, Toshiba, and Parasonic.  Consequently, the nuclear crisis could also affect the US economy as well.  The danger of radiation is also present in the ocean.  Asian cuisine is known for its wide variety of seafood.  Radiation poses a threat to this food supply.  Furthermore, Japan relies heavily on nuclear power to provide energy for the entire country.  The complete loss of these nuclear power plants will cause the Japanese to invest more money and resources in establishing alternate energy sources.
