Spring break is so important to college students because it gives us the chance to just relax and get away from the sometimes hectic college life. Tests, homework, and lab reports always seem to be around the corner no matter how many I’ve just completed. For me, spring break removed the stress of college life for one week. Essentially, I spent the majority of the break relaxing just as the picture implies. However, since I have two tests and a lab report due this week, I had to spend the last portion of my spring break studying and preparing for the upcoming week. The history of spring break dates back to post World War II when the Colgate university swim team went to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to practice. Afterwards, college students began coming to Florida for a break from the cold whether up North. The movie Where the Boys Are made the vacation spot even more popular. Eventually spring break became a national phenomena and virtually all colleges and schools began having it. Since then, many popular spring break areas have risen such as Daytona and Panama City, Florida. It is also common for college students to travel out of the United States for spring break. Cancoon, Mexico is a popular area for students.
